Is Wii U the best system to emulate on?

Right now, I have three systems in my living room: a PS4, a Switch, and a Wii U, and all of them are modded. I thought that maybe I could use the Wii U for retro systems, while the PS4 and Switch play modern games (I'll probably get a launch PS3 at some point for playing PS1/PS2 as well). Does the Wii U have greater emulation potential than the Switch? Not only does it have hardware support for Wii and Gamecube, but it also has Retroarch, AND it has the vWii's homebrew emulators. However, I've heard Retroarch is better on the Switch (outside of DS and ScummVM), and it not supporting Aroma is a pain.

I don't know the answer to your question, but there's a tiny detail that I want to update you about.

RetroArch is now supported by Aroma! It's still WIP, but A LOT of cores are working flawlessly already. Here's the download (make sure to download the latest build!).

I know that, I even posted there. But at the end of the day, it's an unstable test build, and it's likely that it will never go beyond that stage.

Why don't you use tiramisu instead? If you prefer retro games, then there is no need for pretendo and aroma. Just oldschool tiramisu, retroarch forwarder channel and gc/wii injects. Best retro console ever

I mean when it comes to consoles I'd say it's definitely up there.

I hate to be that guy but wouldn't a PC be better?
Playing on PC feels weird compared to a TV, and streaming to a TV causes problems. It's also a crapshoot whether I can get specific controllers working or not. Ideally, I'd prefer to have the consoles themselves with a CRT.
Christ... Your phones better than a wii u 🙈🙈
I'm not playing games on a fucking phone.

Gotta say, it's pretty weird to say "lol why would you play a Wii U" in the Wii U forum.

Haven't gotten around to trying it myself but Ubuntu on the Switch looks very promising. Apparently it emulates the Gamecube, Wii and 3DS very well. You'll probably get better results on the Switch for most consoles but the Wii U will perform better for Wii and Gamecube.

What's wrong with your fucking phone? 😂😂

To answer the second question... Coz i not been in in a while and was feeling mischievous!!

I really loved my wii u when it was all i had but it sucks. It still lives under my tv connected but hasn't been switched on in over a year now.

Just throwing it out there as im sure you inow anyways... A phone will emulate just about everything, even switch, 3ds and a wii u without the sucky menu load times and it's proper mobile gaming. Granted you'll not beat the native Gamecube support on a wii u but dolphin does more than just fine. Again, even available on your Switch with android. You can even plug phones into your tv these days man, still imo exponentially better than a wii u but your switch can take android so... Ditch the phone part 😂😂😂

I treid to make my Wii U my full retro console but it's sooo god damn slow and cumbersome i moved to my phone and got an unpatched switch. There were afew things i couldn't get or get working on wii u but I forget what exactly. Between the two I have everything I want everywhere i go! Much better battery life on both, as wii u gamepad batteries suck hard also! And has the 300 game limit been broken yet on the menu?? I ran out easy and had nice folders full of my favs for 'quick' access. No such problems any more, just a much nicer experience all round.

So to answer the 2nd question again and your original question, i tried it and the console forced me away from it. Blame the wii u 😂

A phone will emulate just about everything
1.- Try at least power the Wii U or turning on every 6 months or it really will suck dead forever and ever and using loadiine on tiramisu will help you with the limit (all virtual console and wiiware on sd) All Wii , Gamecube and native on main menu.

2.- Why do people like to emulate all home consoles on a tiny ass phone screen? I allways look for the most big and largest screen possible experience.

It's larger than ds or 3ds.... 🤷

I used to be like that but honestly, they look better on phone or switch. I mainly play off tv now so for me its an ideal screen but i get not everyone wants that. I honestly have not had the need to go back my wii u for anything since changing over. Was thinking of selling it but made that mistake in the past and thats why i emulate most things now! 🤦

You can use tiramisu for retroarch emulators while still having the online play of pretendo by using pretendo's custom dns in the wii u's internet settings.
