Hacking Is my wiikey taking a dump on me?

Pardon me I haven't been around much lately but I have an older wii (US) with a genuine wiikey thats running 1.9g I allowed the wii to download the newest software updates last week and put in SMG to play last night. I got an "unauthorized device" error. I powered it off and tried again and was good to go. I use quality media that tests out great from my burner. One time error? Sign of things to come?

Also anyone care to give me a brief on SSB? It looks like there's a patcher tool that makes it happy with 1.9g on the wiikey.
