This is something I've kinda wanted to do for a while, but I've never really had the arsenal of PCs required for it. Thanks to my recent stream of Mini PC reviews however, this has changed. I want to dedicate this thread to testing various games from my library to see what I need to do to get them running on my various hardware configurations. This isn't going to be particularly scientific, but I do think it's interesting just how far these things have come.

The PCs I use for testing at the moment can be found below, and the general plan is to play through 30ish minutes on each system to get an idea of how a game performs. Unless otherwise stated, you can assume this time is spent around the beginning of a game. If I do already have a save though, I'll try to shoot for a more exotic area. If I get more systems down the line, I'll update the list here and mark the date they were added in case anybody wants me to revisit a game I've already looked at. I've also included Cinebench (2024.1.0) and Geekbench (6.2.2) scores for each system for you to get a general idea of how they compare to your own machine synthetically.

Having finally gotten around to getting this ready, I've put it all into a neat table on Excel. It should make it easier to get graphs sorted later too if I fancy that. Prices are based on what I could find at the time of writing, with the X35G and my old Razer Blade being a little difficult to pin down, so I've left those empty. The PPP numbers are the Points Per Pound for each score to give you a relatively simple scale of value, and the RAM is coloured depending on whether you can upgrade it. Red means it's either already at its max or can't be upgraded, where green means it can go higher. I did also try to overclock the Air12 a little after seeing ETA Prime's video on the system, but it doesn't appear to make much difference in the synthetic tests. Maybe we'll see some interesting gaming results too though. There were also some issues running Cinebench on a few of the systems, so that's why there's a few missing scores on the sheet.

If you're interested in seeing results for a specific Steam game, you can check my library below to see if I own it, and I'll get to it at some point if I do!

I plan to get started with some of the more demanding games in my Steam library over the coming weeks, but if there's anything people are in a rush to see, just let me know.

Just to pop an update onto here, I've finished getting everything updated, as well as the simple synthetic benchmarks. You can find them all below and on the main post:

I've also invested in a 2TB SSD that I've thrown most of the games onto that I plan to test in the near future, so I should get going on that next week, probably starting out with Monster Hunter World since I have fairly fond memories of putting 40+ hours into it on the Razer Blade Stealth back when I got it. Will be fun to see how it holds up and compares to the slurry of Mini PCs!

Exactly! I think AMD CPU with iGPU AMD Radeon 780M could be winner for most of games than Intel CPU with weak iGPU and poor Intel driver for gaming. That's why I should get AMD then punch Intel out! LOL! :rofl2: :yay:

I wish mini gaming PC should have Nvidia GPU come out soon in near future would lift heavy gaming that's would help a lot. ;)

Oh yeah of the set I have no doubts in my mind at all that the A7 will come out on top. I think I'm more curious at just how low I'll need to take the weaker systems to hit something like a stable 30 on more demanding games. I do also have a new laptop on the way to be delivered (hopefully!) mid-April with an Intel Ultra 9 and their fancy new integrated Arc graphics, so I'm stoked to get started with that too!

That would also melt the plastic housings of most mini pcs, nvidia doesn’t know what heat control is.

I agree with you. Not good idea for Nvidia GPU inside mini PC would cause overheat problems. Solve problem for us to get external GPU to connect to mini PC can lift heavy performance for gaming. ;)

Best to get mini PC which can support external graphics card like Nvidia, AMD and Intel (not sure if Intel work or not or later - Battlemage or later).

I have to wait for new Mini PC should have external GPU support all up to Nvidia RTX 50XX GPU from Nvidia RTX 20XX GPU, AMD GPU and Intel GPU in near future.

I just want have both Windows and Linux operating systems support. I don't like mini PC locked to Windows only is very bad idea. Some mini PC (Minisforum, and others - not sure which name list) don't allow people to install Linux operating system due to BIOS limited features like locked.

Must have Windows and Linux operating systems are way to go. This will be my future goal to have both Windows and Linux operating systems support with external GPU ready. B-)

For what its worth there are actually some Mini PCs with discrete graphics. The one I know is from Minisforum, their Neptune series specifically, though I do think the graphics are AMD...

Geekom have one that they showed off at CES that should be dropping later this year (hoping to review that one!) but again pretty sure it's AMD graphics too.

Two more systems to add to the charts, both in the "weak as shit" category lol.

They were like £200ish apiece and for that I'm more than happy to play around with a weaker CPU for the unique form factors. The big one with two screens has a Celeron N5095, and the smaller one has the N100. As far as I know they're pretty similar CPUs with the N5095 being 11th Gen and the N100 being 12th Gen?

I'll get these benchmarked probably tomorrow just for some raw numbers. Especially curious to see how the N100 in the small boy compares to the one in the (almost certainly better cooled) mini PC. Will also actually get going on trying some games out this week too, been bogged down with work a tad thus far!
