I'm on the loo kout for an IDE 80 pin cable as I have an IDE to sata adaptor and 2tb drive which has been cloned but doesn't work error 13 code) due to the original cable, apparently. Does anyone have any suggestions for which one to buy in the UK?

Thanks

Make sure its long enough - After doing many XBOX Classic mods i've learned that some dvd drives need the 80 pin cable and some don't.

Hello.:)

I´ve use this one:

https://www.amazon.de/Wentronic-Kabel-Ultra-Festplatten-Mbps/dp/B000TND1VI

On the UK Site this one looks similar:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wentronic-...tra+ATA&qid=1555185160&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spell

Long enough only the part from Mainboard to DVD is a little tricky because of the IDE Port connectons on the cable are "inverted" (the PC has it the other way around).

The SAMSUNG and PHILIPS one works in most of the cases.
The THOMSON (as known as the worst one) mostly not.
The HITACHI - sorry I don´t know.

OK thanks. The weird thing is that the xbox saw the HDD and asked to format it (unleashx) when I plugged it in but then crashed as it was formatting. I wonder if there is a drive issue hence it giving me an error 13

Ok,thats a little strange then.

ERROR CODE 13 says Dashboard launch fail due to missing/bad key,or anything else that would prevent it from running and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.

EDIT:

Now i get it. as assumed, there are corrupted files.Your HDD has the files on but some system files are damaged an therefor comes ERROR 13.:(

- HDD ?
- cable ?
- adaptor ?

Challenging,your XBox,really.:)

I also read that it could be due to needing an 80 pin cable.
However my HDD is a 2tb laptop drive attached to a startech ide to sata adaptor. Cable works fine with an 80gb ide drive.

Do you have another drive you can test with?

Some boards are notorious for having issues with certain drives. Trouble is there isn’t really a great resource for finding which combinations work.

Other than that, have a really close look at the SATA adapter, look for dry joints especially. I’ve had that with Startech in the past myself.

I don't unfortunately. It clones fine with chimp so I was just assuming that it needs the 80 pin if it comes up with a code 13

Most likely this will be the cause and it’s cheap to find out at least.

I was just asking the other questions in case you have further issues. Be prepared and all that :D

Oh, and you most likely will have, but some people overlook it, so don’t forget to set the drive to master instead of slave. (If it was set to slave.)

Yeh, done that a few times now and wondered why 'x' drive wasn't working then realised. Doh

The best you can do is trial and error I have had issues in the past make sure the DashBoard is on C:\xboxdash you can use one of the Exploit Games to get things back on the Drive if you need to or if your using Modchip / TSOP then yeah HDDs Compatibility I think 3.5 Sata Drives work better I have used four with no probs then again there are some old IDE HDDs out there too 500/750 Biggest I have seen.

It's not even reading discs when I put them in, going straight to 13 code (works fine with the IDE 80gb HDD). Got an 80 wire ide cable ordered so fingers crossed. Seen a 400gb IDE for £10 but prefer to use a 2TB seeing as I bought the ide to sata adaptor.

80 Pin cable will get you passed E13

Some DVD drives require 80 pin

After many mods I've noted that phillips drives S6kM work with 40 or 80 pin after HDD upgrade - All other drives even phillips s32m e13 without 80 pin. If anyone has a work around for this let me know as Im all out of 80 pin cables.
