Hacking I think my Wii is bricked

First off, I'm not an idiot. I read all the forums and the warning about using games from other regions. Therefore I downloaded Super Mario Strikers for USA region for my NTSC-U Wii. When I wanted to play it it asked me to update. Since it is the same region I figured there would be no problem. Wrong! I can no longer access the settings menu which is a big issue since I just bought an HDTV and I want to change the settings to 16:9 and 480p (when I buy the cables tomorrow).

Is there a way to fix this now?? Please give me some options here as I'm going out of my mind with this crap. (I should have freakin' powered off when I saw that damn update screen but I didn't want to ruin the firmware by powering off mid-way!)

Go BUY Big Brain Acadmey, Wii Degree and update using it and return it. You could download it, but its not worth a 5GB download just to fix your settings

You're right about the PAL version (they called it football instead of soccer). When I downloaded it, the headers said USA. Guess they mislabeled it. Thanks for the help!

I think someone released it as the US-version. It was nuked though.

Hate to break it to you man, but Super Mario Strikers probably wouldn't have even earned a rental from Blockbuster. Now stop watching YouTube. You're the reason music costs so much.

If no one pirated, do you think the game prices would go down? Somehow I don't think they would. They make enough profit on selling the games. Especially all the ports that seem to be being released on the wii.

there was a PAL version PATCHED to NTSC going around claiming it was USA version it was nuked if i rember correctly ?

im not into the wii scene but i saw it on here soemwhere lol

I've been playing that mislabeled Strikers release with no problems (since I updated beforehand).

But I'm curious, is it just the straight up PAL release mislabeled, or did they actually do anything to the game?

I know which one this is, and yes it was patched with NTSC. People said that it worked perfectly as long as you performed a manual system update prior to inserting this copy of the game.

After you put in the game it would tell you that you needs to perform a system update, the bar moves across but does nothing. It basically just checks if you have 2.2 firmware.

If you followed all these steps your Wii would not have bricked.

I don't see how it qualifies a "nuked," a lot of people were able to get this game to work no problem on their NTSC-U Wiis.

Edit: A BIG clue that you should turn off your Wii and go online to research is when it prompts to update, you have to "OK" it before it begins. All you have to do is shut off your Wii (or unplug it if you're that worried) and Google it.
