Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart is a great RPG that just got translated (Go to RomHacking.net for more information).
Also, if you've not played Super Mario Advance 3 - Yoshi Island, you definitely have to check it out (great platformer with colorful, refreshing graphics).

I started on Tactics ogre now. Seems like a great enough game.

I agree, TO is pretty awesome. When you get snapdragons though, you kind of become overpowered, just to let you know. They're cool, though

I got another few recommendations...
Car Battler Joe - Mode7 driving game RPG mix -- Think anime meets Mad Max
Zone of the Enders - Combo of a tactical rpg and action (you control the attack and dodging defense manually.)

ZotE has an insanely good story to follow and gets quite involved, tons of stages...quite fun. CBJ is fairly shorter but has lots of 'after' things to do, second quest like stuff and more...just really unique and fun.

Well, let me just say, in my first post ever on this site (after reading it daily for years) that if you haven't picked up "The World End With You" yet, that needs to be the next on your list. Yes, it is a rpg (sort of), but the obvious creativity that went into it is really something. The artwork, music, even creative battle sequences are things of beauty. And not to mention the fact that it is HARD! I don't know about you but I like being challenged in a game. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and this game is already kicking my ass in a way few games have kicked my ass before!!!

I know its not actually on GBA but I tried it for kicks and I got so involved with it it was amazing.
I clocked over 19 hours in only 4 days and I was also insanely busy during that time. The story especially is awesome.

Try drill dozer, a platformer by nintendo, about a girl which is in a mecha armed with a drill, genius.
I recomend you also "rythm tengoku" a rythm game by nintendo, that looks like wario ware, it is in japenese but you can really understand evything.

You should get into the Megaman Battle Network series. Just don't get the Double Team version for DS. Also seconding Rhythm Tengoku.

I agree... it's a very 'Average' game, I prefer playing against the bots to doing the story mode...
If you want to see something terrible type in 'Metroid Prime Hunters the Movie' on youtube... ugh

i rented metroid prime hunters and while walking out of the parking lot
i decided to test it
