use emunand9 to restore it to your emunand partition.
COPY the file (keep your backup) into sd:/emunand9/ and name it Emunand9.bin
launch emunand9 from HBL, and under advanced options, copy emunand9.bin to emunand

i would *highly* suggest making a backup of your current, broken emunand before doing so. just in case.

Can we rename the partition of our sd card (both nand with tons of numbers as a crypt key) into emunand file and sysnand file ?

I recommend using the program emunand tool vs 1.0.1
You can do things fryoupc without need rename anything (it looks for a nand.bin in such format. So you can inject nand.bin into your emunand

If you mean the folder in Nintendo 3ds, NO
That number is used as a key as you know
Just makes a txt file that blank but title say which is which

I am trying to set up a new emunand and inject nand.bin into it. However, although formatting it normally works, when I format it for emunand and then put it in my PC, it says it is corrupt and unreadable. What do I do?

New or old sdcard?

Cause shouldn't your old sd card have a emunand partician, which why people needed to format the first time?

It did, but I formatted it because I thought I would have to make a new one. By the time I realized it wasn't necessary, it was too late. Regardless, why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Check to see when you formated the sd card of the emunand partician is still there
Something formatting the sd card only does the visible area

How you know: space available
My sd card is 32 gb. I formatted cause backup corrupted everything. Available space was 27 hb, less then original space I had before emunand. Thus emunand partician wasn't touched during my format as that missing space is for emunand

Available space is 58 gb but the card is 64. How do I get rid of emunand?

edit: nvm, found a tutorial. I'll post how it goes. Sorry for being a noob, I'm usually smarter than this

Last edited by Charganium,
My sd card is 8gb, i formatted, installed emunand, unlink my nands ans then install menuhax on my sysnand.

But the storage used by this is only 636 MB, whereas my nand backup thaat i did with gateway is way heavier than all my sd card content.

the fact is that there is absolutly not a single problem. Kinda strange.

Using a CIA Manager, install SaveDataFiler and dump your extdata. After you wipe your Emunand and start fresh again, inject the extdata you dumped. All your digital saves should be restored.

Now I'm having a problem with the simplest thing: I can't even get the card to be FAT32 anymore. I can format it to have 32 GB of remaining space and be FAT32, but if I try to make it FAT32 and 64GB, it becomes corrupted. This is so frustrating.

Nowhere, it just appears if I attempt to format it as a FAT32 32GB card. If I format it as a FAT32 64GB card, it becomes unreadable.

Since we are solving some problems with saves/emunand i'll post my issue (which i probably know what the answer will be)

Compact version:
Made emunand.
Unlink NANDs by formatting emuNAND and not sysNAND.
I backup save from the games.
I made a new emunand (basically i wanted my SysNAND to now become my emuNAND).
One game stores some things in extdata, i didn't backup it :(

So any chance to salvage the extdata files?
I have the Nintendo 3ds folder for it but no emunand backup which i would just use.

For some reason the new sysnand (cause this time i formated my sysnand for the unlink) has the same folder in Nintendo 3ds as my previous emuNAND, i tried to run svdt but it couldn't find the games (i even tried pasta mode on sysnand and no games)

P.S the game is Pokemon Art Academy and it stores the drawings in extdata, i only had the tutorial drawings but it still sucks.

What if you have eshop games/saves that need your sysnand key to be read.

I assume if you format emunand, it will create a new key which makes eshop games and their saves unusabled. Won't it ?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Personaly, i dont see the reason why some people advice to format emunand.

I mean you want to play online, have the lastest updates and stuff like that. So make your emunand as it is like the nand you have since the very begining, no ?

Don't even think sysnand exist after you unlink them.

OP corrupted his emunand so thats why he needed to reinstall it.

Btw OP heres something that never got mentioned
if you corrupted your emunand on rxtools
You can backup titlelist/import.DB and seeds.bin etc and other stuff in the dumping option

Clone over your sysnand to emunand with emunand9tool without formatting
Inject the Files i just mentioned that you dumped before booting into emunand
Emunand will do a factory setup thinking its been reset
Once done all your games will still be available with your Saves.
