Hardware I brokened it...

Hiya, this is my first post on here after reading for the last few weeks. My little 'en has been bugging me to hardmod his New 3ds xl for a while and I finally gave it a go and now it's goosed. It won't turn on at all, all I get is the blue light on the front coming on for about 3-4 seconds and then going off (no popping from speakers either). I'm pretty sure I did all the soldering fine as I'm an auto-electrician by trade and solder pretty much daily including the reflowing of various ECU's etc so by no means a soldering novice. I'm pretty confident it's a ribbon cable problem *somewhere* but they all look to be fine on visual inspection. Any suggestions would be great and I will be in contact with @gamesquest1 as soon as I can PM as I think I've bitten off more than I can chew with this and would rather pay someone for the expertise.

Why in the world are you hardmodding when custom firmware can be installed in all 3ds?
next time just go to https://3ds.guide/

That’s what I did buddy, it says for 11.6 it needs a hardmod or an already modded 3DS or that’s how I read it anyway. I’ve also just had another play and shortened my wires right down and now it’s doing the same thing but I get a pop from the speakers so I’m guessing that’s definitely the speaker robin cable that isn’t seated right or broken.

The fact that the blue light turns on for a second makes me think you are just missing a boot.firm, how far did you get with the steps on 3ds.guide?
