Hardware How to know if cloud saving is actually working?

should I just assume that it's actually saving to cloud? it does say backed up, but is there any way to verify this short of deleting the save, then trying to download the save from cloud? the fact that it's set to auto by default could be problematic if you load a game before downloading its save, then it saves replacing the original "good" save. does the game have to appear on the home menu (i.e. insert its cart) before you can download its save or can you download its save beforehand? it seems like you have to be extremely careful with this in case you forget.

You can upload saves without them inserted, so I'm assuming it can download without it as well. No real way to test it actually worked other than deleting.

alright, I tested it with dkc tropical freeze, since I can get to the end pretty quickly. I deleted the save, then downloaded the cloud save. it worked!
