How to emulate gamecube/wii through retroarch?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I was wondering if it's as simple as placing the rom in a folder and then running the rom through retroarch?

I like to make a folder called Roms for all of your games inside the Retroarch folder. Just put the rom in there.
however the regular Retroarch does not do GameCube/Wii very well, so I suggest you look into Lakka for games like this.
