Hacking How often do they update their firmwares?

If you want to install YSMenu on an AK2, here you go:

1) Download & extract AKYSauto.

2) Download the latest YSMenu from Yasu's site. Rename the downloaded zip file "YSMenu0903211700.zip" to "YSMenu0810211800.zip". Don't extract it.

3) Copy it over to inside the "ak2ysauto" folder. Run the ak.bat. Answer all the questions. You should get a zip file called "ak2_custom_release.zip".

4) Extract it and copy the contents to your MicroSD. Make sure all other firmware related files are deleted.

The Cheat database is out of date so you can download a new one at GBATemp's Cheat DB. Download the USRCHEAT.dat and copy it into the YSMenu on your MicroSD. Overwrite the existing one.

When you boot the AK2 you'll notice line at the bottom of the bottom screen that reads, "Made using AK2YSauto (Maikel Steneker)". To remove this open the YSMenu.ini in the YSMenu folder on your MicroSD with Notepad. Find the line that says, "VERSION=Made using AK2YSauto (Maikel Steneker)" & delete everything after the equal sign. Save it and place the MicroSD into your AK2.

Thanks for the instructions but it didn't work. It just freezes when I boot up the DS. I really do appreciate that you went to all that effort though.

Make sure that all AKAIO/Official FW files are gone. If you followed the instructions correctly and AKYSauto compiled a release successfully, then extract the ak2_custom_release.zip located in the ak2YSauto folder. Inside you will find a YSMenu folder and an akmenu4.nds. Copy both to the root of your SD card. I tested this method out myself, it worked perfectly. I edited the instructions a bit, does that make a difference?

Don't know what else to say. Sorry about that. Did you get any errors while your ran ak.bat? Did you answer "Yes" to use the skin that was found?

They update the firmware (both of them) when a problematic game comes out, or when a new feature is added, like deleting folders with files in them.
