I've had my 3DS for a few weeks now, but I've yet to actually buy any games for it.

How does saving work?

Say I buy a copy of Super Street Fighter IV and let a friend borrow it, my save file will be safe on my console, and they're free to start their own, right?

I can't count how many times I've lost a savefile because someone was too careless with a game I let them borrow.

Look at it this way, it seems like developers don't like save data being wiped anymore. It seems that about half of the 3DS games out or announced utilize or will utilize a single, un-erasable save system.

very true.
Resident evil mercenaries 3d is the only game I saw with that save system yet.
