Gaming How does thr hack checker work at VGC Tournies

Hello there! I am having more and more interest in the behind the scenes for Pokemon Tournaments. I am learning about the rules and I want to know how the Hack checker actually works. Like do they have some software that lets you inject the game card itself to see if hacks have been done. I knownit sounds stupid how I am putting it, but I think it is very intriguing how they could find out how it works. Also is it manditory for every participant who enters or do is it used when the opponent thinks something is suspicious.

As I understand, they visually inspect your home menu and make you use the device with a clean sd. And I believe it is mandatory.

Oh ok, so like they see if your SD is clean and I heard about the checking of the home boot up to see if it is homebrewed. Seems a little loose since someone could just use another 3DS for that sort of stuff

I think they do a more in depth test if someone complains, but they don't have time to test everyone.

I did hear a rumor that Nintendo is planning a surprise update the day the next contest starts. Hopefully no anti cheat there.

I heard someone was disqualified from a recent Australian tournament for using a mon with a default 3DS date for met (ie year 2000) ... doesn't appear to be any precedent for this online and seems really strange as perfectly legit Pokemon can have met dates like this. Can anyone else confirm met date prior to launch has led to disqualifications, either this year or in past seasons?

Edit: Apparently the met date was actually a few days prior to release and not just a default system date. That is significantly more suspect and they were likely on the lookout for things like this, given the leaks.

Still, has anyone else heard of DQs happening for this?

You can just check if arm9loaderhax.bin is I the SD Card or NAND. Or check for known title id's of JKSM, FBI, ...

Really? Very interesting, that makes sense though, I havent stumbled across anything like that, I have seen someone not allowed to use their Porygon Z cause they had to write down their teams and just because of the simple misspell the person was unable to use their Porygon Z for writing down Porygon. Very simple check though,I am sure they must have a list of possible stats, movesets and specific balls for each poke when checking the box from what it sounds.
