It's been bugging me for a while now.
i don't really like those puzzle games because they are really short, and usually one of us is better at particular puzzle games and win all the time
i want something i can have fun playing together with my friend that can last for longer

Do any of you remember back in the days of snes and psx when there were simple 2d side scroller hack and slash games, where you and your friend choose characters and slash your way through the story?

they just don't have it anymore.
or anything close to having you and your friends on the same screen and beating the hell out of enemies together

by now you must be burning to scream out titles such as "nanostray" or "FFCC: Ring of Fates" or "Contra 4".

but they're just not the same, i'm talking about games like this

There isn't a single game on the ds that has the magic the old hack and slash provides...

when metal slug 7 game out i thought there's finally a game i can enjoy together with my friend
and then i found out it doesn't have multiplayer mode!

Get Ultimate Mortal Kombat. You can play with anyone through Wi-Fi connection.

I can never find anyone playing actual UMK3, but I can ALWAYS find someone to play Puzzle Combat against!

Dungeon Explorers is fun online, though I do have some serious issues with that game. I keep wishing someone would make a SoM or SoE styled game with online WiFi.

That's strange. I can't find anyone for Puzzle Kombat.

EDIT: Haha, I just played a guy, he was really hard to beat. He beat me 18 times before I broke the streak, then he beat me 2 more times and when I was finishing him, he disconnected.

what type of multiplayer are you talking about; wi-fi or local?

simple, local, multiplayer that i can sit down together with my friend and play
i must have tried over 100 games but none which could last through ten minutes. all the multiplayer games the ds has are versus games that don't last very long, whether that be puzzle genre or shooting, you just end up repeating the game after every ten minutes

i want something that can play against computer together, because that's the only way that a game can last for longer and has a story in it

Yeah well games like TMNT or Golden Axe seem indeed near extinction, a pity indeed, they were always so fun.

Man I miss the old arcade-style games, and multiplayer only made them like 10x better! I'd like to see more of them, a lot of people complain that the DS can't handle too much due to the lack of processing power, polygon count, RAM etc. but games like tmnt and golden axe don't need any of that. Castlevania comes close but still doesn't cut it, the co-op in that is only for boss bash and not in the campaign

a review of games like that will give them a 5/10 nowadays ...

Do the Snes/NES emus for DS have 2 player?

If so,you could use those.

Edit:Id love to see the simpsons arcade game on DS,best multiplayer ever.

Zekkyo Senshi Sakebrain is an interesting little side-scroller that can ONLY be played multi-player by yelling commands into the mic. It's okay as a novelty, but probably won't give you the longevity you want. What could be worth waiting for would be the new Gauntlet game coming out.

Does Soma Bringer have a multiplayer option?

There are good multiplayer games for ds. But that only applies if you like it or not. Some people might like this game and some might hate it. There are multiplayers of all genre (racing, fighting, mini games, etc) and it depends on the player to think if its good or not.

There are some good multi-player games, like MKDS and blah blah, but i do agree.

I would love some Arcade games to hit the DS and be multiplayer.
Final Fight 2 would be my number one pick.

I heard before, a long time ago mind you, that one of the snes emulator teams was trying to make a multi-player component for the DS, just like how there was the online program before. I have already forgotten what it was called. Been so long since i used it. But then all the emulators came built in with it anyway.

Hopefully there is a way that it can be put into a DS emulator too.
