I'm looking at finally getting around to installing the Homebrew channel after having some problems getting Animal Crossing running. However, I don't have a copy of Twilight Princess. My wii is chipped however (Wiikey) and I'm wondering if there's an install disc somewhere out there that would do the job without needing TP. Any ideas, or am I gonna need to borrow it from a friend?

as far as i have seen Unfortunatly your going to need to borrow it from a friend
duh self booting disc. forgot they released that.

As afif95 says, you must be on 3.2 or lower - the HBC install disc is fakesigned (Trucha signed). I used it on my 3.1E Wii and it worked just fine - no need for the Twilight Hack to install it.

Your System Menu version is shown in the settings menu in the upper right corner of the screen, I think.

Awesome, checked and I'm on 3.2E (assuming the e just means PAL)

One last question about Trucha signing, do the "safe" 3.3/3.4 updates allow Trucha discs to work? (And do the ''safe' updates need to be burned on a disc, or installed via SD card?)

Nah, never tried those safe update methods but best of staying at 3.2 AKA the golden firmware

you can have a system menu of one of the 2 and use ios downgrader and the mii and shop channel installer and trucha will work.
but it's more work than that to set it up alsowith 3.3 there are 2 versions one with trucha signing possible(v1) and one without it (v2) and 3.4 has auto updates and no trucha signing.

Why wouldnt it be possible for him to use a copied version of zelda , save a game - install the twilight hack and then play the game using the hacked save to install homebrew ?

He has a hacked wii so zelda copies will play - i dont see why it wont install (though i havent tried it) if the game plays.

Rather than make a new thread...

For following the instructions here (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Updating_IOS_by_hand) when it says "Move IOS38-64-v###.wad from the root into the wad folder" what numbers should those #'s be?
