I know he doesnt know how to make his own games, which is why I am doing it for him. He goes to stores and buys bootleg copies of wii games. I appreciate all the "help" you guys gave me. Oh wait, instead of giving me any help on how to burn wii games, so that I don't somehow brick my cousin's wii, you instead insult me for trying to do something nice for my cousin. Out of 20 replies, none of you were helpful at all, none of you even bothered to try and answer my questions. Even if its an "add-on" gift, it still a lame gift idea. Why don't you just teach him how to burn the games and start him off with a 50pk of DVD-R, make that his gift. Then he is getting a gift that will keep on giving since he will know how to burn the games himself now.

We were just trying to make you not look as cheap. There are numerous threads on this site describing how to do this, Get some Blank DVD-R's burn the ISO at 4x-8x speed, generally half of the DVD-R's burn speed. Lastly you might want to try these out before giving it to him, as its hard to tell a good ISO from a bad one.

With the modchip I believe he can play any region game, might just need to change some settings, Does that help you?!

Please dont go around yelling at other members who are trying to help, I also agree on the 100 DVD-R's that'd be a great gift.

Is there anything I need to add to the disc to get it to run? I know he has an NTSC wii, but I don't know what modchip he has (if it matters what modchip he has please tell me).


Also, since he has an NTSC wii, can he only play NTSC games? Can he play PAL games too? Is there something I need to add to PAL games to get it to run (safely, I don't wnat to be blamed for breaking his wii) on an NTSC wii?

-no you don t have to add something to the disc.

Please stop telling people to burn at 2x! It not a very good speed burn at 4x or 8x and you will be good

though, i use imgburn and verbatim dvd-r's burning at 4x. just open the app, click "write image file to disc". select the image you want to burn and click the box in the lower right and change it to 4x. now load the blank dvd and once the device becomes ready click "write". now for the hard part, open two (or three) bottles of beer and drink them quick enough so that the last beer does not get warm. by the time you finish your disc should be ready. so you also say that your cousin has a modchip. then he would just need to load the disc as if it were a normal one.

I don't think anyone has mentioned WiiBrickBlocker, you should use WiiBrickBlocker (or Wii Update Manager, both available in the downloads section) to remove any updates on the discs. If he's ever gonna update his Wii, he can do so through the system menu... the last thing you want to do is burn a game from another region with an update newer than his system menu version, if he chooses to update then it will brick his Wii.

So I'd recommend removing all updates from the ISO files (using the above mentioned software, it only takes a few seconds per ISO file) before you burn the games.

And if you have a printer that supports inkjet printable discs (you could get one for yourself for Christmas if you don't, lol), I bet he would love it if you used inkjet printable media with custom disc covers (from cdcovers.cc or console-covers.com). It looks much better than a sharpie, and there's no risk of damaging the Wii like a paper label. I'm sure he would appreciate the games a lot more if they had nice full colour labels on them, but that's just my opinion.

I know some of you were just trying to make me not look cheap, but I'm pretty young, and not really expected to buy gifts for anyone other than my brother and parents. Its just the way that some of you phrased it that made it very insulting. It is also pretty wrong to assume that I am doing this just because I am cheap. Maybe I am having financial troubles, just got layed off my job have a lot of aquired debt and am about to lose my house?

I dont see how saying that my family will also be getting him accessories would help you people answer my question on how to burn backups, thats pretty odd.

The way some people replied in this thread really make me wonder how they respond when they get a gift they don't particularily enjoy.

I wasn't yelling at other memebers either. I don't know where you got that. I felt that I was being pretty rational. But of course, I guess you are all justified in your insults and put downs. Clearly I am not allowed to wonder why people would be so mean around Christmas time to someone who is just asking for answers on how to burn a game. I wasn't saying "Hey please insult me and please insult what I am giving to my relative".

I agree on the 100PK of dvd's also

maybe not a very good speed(2x), but i ve also burn over 72 dvd-Rs at this speed with 1 bad burn (because i was playing during the burn process)
to me, That's a good speed!
