1. I gave you full credit for the installer, so it's technically not classed as stealing. Go read the cIOSCORP v3.x readme, the "Credits" section. I've even given credits to you in the installer itself. You'll see in the banner, after the "cIOSCORP v3.4 installer" text, in brackets the text "Original installer by icefireicefire".
2. So far, it hasn't caused any bricks, and if it did, it wouldn't be your fault. Everyone would just blame me, as it's my cIOSCORP that's its installing. If anybody blames you, just direct them to me. But then again, any modification comes with absolutely no warranty, so if someone bricks their wii, the only person they have to blame is themself.
3. Surely, if someone else is using your product, and giving you credit, it must be good, and doing it's job properly.

Thanks for making the installer, icefireicefire. It does its job just fine.

1. its not legal to do that, and worse with credits, as it proves you know that.
2. I've gotten blamed for stuff less likely than this before. Also, the code fails.
3. no, it just must be the easiest solution for someone lazy.

Also, its not open source, and GPL you *can* revoke (just not on older versions).

I´m not sure if you done this but...

1.) Why didnt you put your copyright on "your" installer?

3.) Stop bitching on da_letter_a at least he used "your" installer for cIOSCORP which has made many users happy.

I agree that it's a bit late to be coming back after all this time and claiming he's stealing. The guy gave credits, and it's widely known that it's Ice's installer so I don't see what his issue is. A PM would have been better definitley

What is really sad is that many "coders" are just copying already written code and often "forget" to mention who really wrote it only to have a "name" in the scene (or for whatever reason) and honestly there are many that are doing this.
Well at the end there is anyway nobody who really cares here about that stuff as long as they get their tools to change the menu theme or whatever stupid stuff.

I'm not saying I'm 100% with icefireicefire since I don't presume to know the full story/background about this code. Things I would like to know are

1)Did icefireicefire's code stem off from source released from something else? (like a wad manager or sth) If it did, then sorry ice but you can't really complain

2) How did da letter a get the source code to modify it to begin with? If the source code was made available for download... there isn't anything legal you can say icefire

On the other side of the house, it doesn't sound like da letter a ask to use it or release a mod (which he wouldn't have to if it was under GPL, as log as he releases the full source with every build)

But to all of you posters here who replied to this thread saying that everything is ok simply because da letter a gave him credit... you are all freaking idiots. By that logic, I could steal your car and sell it and it would be ok as long as I told the buyer that it was YOUR car.

Or closer to this subject, copy a book and pass it around with my own cover and preface, giving the original author full credit for the actual bulk of the writing. Would that be ok?

Mm he does have a point but still I don't think its the same case.
If you buy a car you will get your certificate that has YOUR name and tells you that the YOU are the owner of that car and you are the only one who can sell it or do whatever you want. and As I see icefire did NOT put any copyrights nor anything in his installer nor told anyone to do not use this or to use it...

I don't even know why his complaing about this after months!..cIOSCORP made many people happy so lets not make any problems.
and im sure 99% people in here are not following Nintendo's copyright rules. even icefire.
or maybe someone should call Nintinedo and ask if icefire has THE RIGHTS to code wii or run "backups" or do another stuffs that I'm sure its not legal. so technically your breaking someone else rules but if someone breaks your rule(which I don't think you had it) you are gona complain? seriously man...

What license does icefireicefire's installer actually have? If it was released with source, but without mentioning what license it has, that was stupid. (even if i think that he has the copyright in that case and it's not allowed to redistribute or release modified versions)

sounds to me like you guys have alot of respect for one anothers "social abuse" but none for One of the scenes BEST DAMN CONTRIBUTORS!

Well the concept of cioscorp is not getting better, but with new IOS released, new versions of IOS released and new cIOS(dip modules!) released, there's improvement.

And stop telling everywhere that you have no problems with cioscorp v1. That's fine for you, but if somebody bricks his Wii because of your post(s), you are partly to be blamed for that. You know that cioscorp v1 does not work on new Wiis and you know that you have to tell such important "details" all the time, because nobody reads all the old posts.

If it was then why is icefire now moaning. if he was that protective of it then he should have done what credier did with Preloader and not released it.
