The patch comes in BSDiff format (.bdf extension)
Extract the trainer zip (where you get this paticular trainer is up to you) to a directory.
Copy your metroid rom (make sure it is the clean US version (there was a whole speight of dumps of this one) to the directory you just extracted your trainer to.
Copy the following lines into notepad and save with a .bat extension in the same directory as your trainer, it's files and the rom.
Run said batch file (it is technically a program so just double click it if you did not already know).
Up will pop a rom called Metroidtrainer.nds, guess what you do with this.
