Hacking Homebrew help with wii u Update

When i turn on my wii u it wants me to update. When i do try to update the console says it's up to date (5.5.5u). If i don't update i cant use online features like multiplayer and such. FYI my wii u is NTSC/USA console if that helps

Hello,

did you enable dns in wii u settings?
If so, disable them.

to update, disconnect your USB media, then update.
