I never used 6.20 or 6.35 for cfw so I have no idea. The advantage is better game compatibility.

Well game compatibility seems like a top priority to me. How would I go about upgrading?

You can update by googling the OFW for 6.60 and go from there, since 6.61 is the latest and I do not believe it's worth it if anything it's sony's last ditch effort to block out cfws.

Thank you for your help. I will probably stick with the version I have for now until I learn more about it. In the mean time is there any further general advice you could give me in terms of using CFW? This is my first time owning a PSP with CFW on it so I really don't quite know what I am doing.

You can check out top plugins one of which I like and recommend is popsloader for PS1 games. and remote2joy

Now when you refer to PS1 games do you mean image files of PS1 game discs or something else?

Basically, except for PSPs they are called eboot files. A container for the psp to read them.

Since I make backup images of my PS1 games is there a way to convert my PS1 disc images to reboot files?

Yes there is should be PSX2PSP look that up.
