Hacking Help my LBW save disappeared

i am using gateway. Everything was fine until this morning. I beat 3 lorule dungeons got tons of hearts 12 and i saved the game each time. The save said it was completed.

I turn on my ds today qnd get a message my cart was removed.
When i load up lbw today im back at hyrule and lorule isn't even available. Im back to 5 hearts. My save regressed all the way back to months ago. Which is crazy as yesterday when I was playing i loaded the game and i was able to pick up in lorule on the second dungeon.


Im using a SanDisk 8gb card.
What could've happened?

have you checked your sd card to see if it's corrupted?

Did you exit the game using the home menu? The save doesn't get saved permanently until you do this.

You know what i dont think I did.

How and why does this happen? Why have a save feature if it doesn't save until you close the game?

Just the way the Gateway cartridge works.
