Some model consoles don’t work very well with Linux, you could try the Linux payloads included in X-Project as @Leeful has made them as stable as possible, and there are several to try.
Yeah internal if you’re loading from internal, else try the whole proces externally and use the various external ones.
I personally could not get the internal linux to work.
It would boot into the rescueshell like it should but it would not let me install it for some reason.
Linux from USB works fine so I cant see any reason for the Internal one not to work also.
All the files are on the internal HDD and it obviously sees them or it would not boot into the rescueshell but It just wont let me install.

so i tried the x-project payload for hdd boot and it worked perfectly

Ok new problem
i thought it worked because it was installing and it said wait 12-15 min
after that time it says "tar :corrupted data" but does does say that it install successfully
and when i type start-psxitarch.sh it says failed no such file or directory
then "booting psxitarch linux please wait" but nothing happens

Nevermind after retrying the installation for what felt like the 100th time it finally worked for some reason
