HBO Developing Indie Game Developer Series

A feature documentary about indie game developers is being turned into a half-hour cable series.

According to Deadline, HBO and producer Scott Rudin (The Social Network, True Grit, Sleepy Hollow) have acquired remake rights to Indie Game: The Movie.

This marks the second Sundance acquisition for HBO following the documentary Me @ The Zoo. Indie Game: The Movie is a feature documentary about video games, their creators and the craft. The film follows the dramatic journeys of indie game developers as they create their games, and as they release those works, and themselves, to the world. The film features: Edmund McMillen & Tommy Refenes (supermeatboy.com) Phil Fish (polytroncorporation.com) and Jonathan Blow (braid-game.com).

The plan right now is for Rudin to develop the film as a fictional half-hour series for HBO and then act as executive producer.

Does this really leave a lot of room for an entire television series? Would each episode focus on a different developer, or multiple developers discussing/dealing with a particular topic?

Getting indie developers onto the show shouldn't be a hassle; it's free advertising after all. Getting people to watch it, though, might be much more difficult.
