PS1/2 Have they done this yet?

until someone hacks the blu ray format, the ps3 will not go anywhere in the pirate scene, and which means ill never buy one, unless some genius cracks the blu ray code

PS3 backups have been around for some time now I believe, just cant play them so they do not spread much.

What do you mean "crack the blu-ray code?" You can make Blu-ray backups. They've been around for an incredibly long time, but the writable discs are still too expensive to make it worthwhile. They are getting cheaper and cheaper, but not there yet.

Yes but I think by the time we get backups working a Blu-ray disk will be less then $3, so we need to start hacking now!

the fact that you can burn data onto a blu ray disc is no help at all, until someone cracks the blu ray drive code and is able to manipulate it so it can read backups with a chip or whatever, ps3 users are gonna have to spend 100's of dollars to be able to play all the games wii and xbox360 owners can play for spare change

well some games do fit on a DVD-DL
someone just has to find a way to be able to read it like a normal PS3 blu-ray disk

In fact A LOT of games fit on DVD-DL and some games fit on single layer DVD.

Because PS2 backup-running discs have DVD and CD version instead of all-in-one, I'm assuming it's hard to trick the machine. Due to the physical difference between BD and other optical media, you'd need to get the disc drive to think it's a DVD while PS3 O/S thinks it's BD.

I saw 2 blu-ray -R's and one blu-ray -RW selling for $45. LOL.
