I generally buy the main POKEMON games but stay away from ranger and dungeon series.

The most recent example for me is Portal.
Played a pirated version on PC and then bought it on XBLA.

Morrowind sort of falls into this category. I bought it originally but then pirated the expansion packs. Later I bought the GOTY edition to have legit copies of the expansions.


There are quite a few games that I have both bought and pirated, usually because I get sucked in by the hype and decide to buy it, but get my hands on a pirated release before it's available here, or the pirated release is just easier to use (DRM, CD-Verification, etc.)

I've bought Jam with the Band.
And I bought Pokémon SoulSilver in Japanese just because I wanted to own a retail copy of it (Plus Pokéwalker.)
Ended up buying a Japanese LeafGreen and Green as well.

Pokemon. Partly because I needed the original copy in order to go to events lol.

You do know you don't need an original copy to download event Pokémon?

I wasnt talking about getting event pokemon. I was talking about going to "Pokemon Day", or competitions

Yeah, I did this with Devil Survivor and Persona 3 Portable. Even though I haven't actually played the retail copies, I did it because I loved the games and Atlus isn't a huge renowned company. And by supporting them hopefully they will make more fantastic games! (Persona 4 Portable please!)
