Hardware Hard disk for the Wii U. Need help

I have a portable PC with 4 HD. I use only 1 out 4 hds.
I would pick one of those HD to use for the WiiU.
I have some questions though:

• Is the HD compatible for the WiiU?
• Does it need a power supply?
• A wire that connect the hd > usb is enough to use on the WiiU?

as long as you get a sata to usb adapter/enclosure it will work. if its already extrnal usb then they usually need extra power using a usb y splitter
