Hacking Hacking a fresh PSTV

As you may know, Wal-Mart is selling off its remaining stock of Playstation TVs at fire sale prices. I already have one of these doohickeys, but $30 for a bundle including a Dual Shock 3 and an 8GB memory stick is pretty hard to resist. Now that I have this thing, I'd like to be able to put it to good use. So here are some quick questions. First, what firmware version does the PSTV bundle include right out of the box? Second, can the system be hacked without assigning it to an account? If so, how?

The system is on 3.20 (the golden firmware). Which is good because I bought it primarily for PSP on TV, however, these memory cards are going to bleed my wallet dry...shit.

That was possibly one of the things that killed the Vita. I had a PCH-1000 (the beautiful OLED model, now broken I really want another one of these), and it was awesome, but the 8GB card was expensive af....Now I own a PSTV (got it for like 30€), aaaand, I expected to put my memory card in, boot it and play Gravity Rush. Guess what.... it's not compatible with it (ty sony for the whitelist)... They won't make it compatible, cuz they want people to get the Remastered version.... Which I did, since I wanted to play it badly. Although I had to start from scratch (I just needed to complete the challenges to get Platinum x.x on the Vita). And I don't even have a PS4, I go to a friend's house to play GR x.x

Hi everybody!

Like you i bought a PSTV because it was dirty cheap!

TL;DR of what you need:

1 - PS3, I absolutely need it. There are no way around sadly. I went to a friend's home to use his one.

2 - A PSN game to use as a container. The smaller, the better (for your memory card and for your transfer time). I used Echoes (1.19€, 23Mb) but other people also used Alien Zombie Death (1.19€, 8Mb) and Canabalt (1.99€, 11.5Mb)

If you have both two these prerequisite you can follow a guide.

Just a few notes:
1) Do FIRST Part 5, THEN do Part 1 and Part 3
2) There is no need for any swap trick, just keep them on the same network and if is not recognised use a different one (I managed to do it with my phone hotspot [no authentication needed], because with my home network it was not working)
3) As soon you manage to move your PSN game from the PS3 to the PSTV, you MUST do a Backup using QCMA of your software. This way you would no longer needed a PS3 to restore it if it somehow got corrupted
4) About TN-V, to play homebrew you should use a plugin: Game2VHBL (I followed THIS guide)
4b) In the guide it make you do a shitload of useless passages. Just load the PSPFiler (using the iso) and use an FTP client to do all the stuff he tells you to do
5) Your first homebrew MUST be an FTP Server (PSPFiler will works good), this way you can add/remove games/homebrew a lot faster and without the need to pass trough QMCA or other sony stuff (plus this way you no longer need PS Vita update blocker)

As a note, if you're just installing a TN-V custom bubble, you can use PSP demos as well and save some cash. I use the Echochrome demo, it's ~50MB.

At this point, I'd like to add that you don't need a PS3 to hack the Vita. You can purchase exploitable PSP games from the PSN store via web browser on your PC, then add to download queue for your PSTV.
At $30, the rubbish that is the PSTV/ with those bonuses is starting to look a tad like gold.

Thought you could only add it to your download queue if you have a ps plus membership. That or you had to be able to go into the plystation store on the vita itself to check the download queue which you can't go on ps store on a outdated ps vita/tv.
