So i never used badge arcade (didnt know it existed). I recently modded my 3ds and have downloaded gytb, with some fun badges.
The problem is every time i try to run it it says "Checking for preexisting Badge Arcade badges to dump... WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ELF" and then i have to exit the application. I also simply do not have the place badges option in the home menu settings.

what firmware are you on?
I'm having this same issue I'm on luma I've never used badge arcade but I have the app and it sends me straight to the e shop whenever I try to add the badges I put on gytb. I am also having the same error

did anyone find a solution for this? I modded my 2DS XL just now after the service was discontinued and now I cant add any badges :(

That's odd, because I just got a New 3DS from Japan last month. Did the region change, and used GYTB to add badges for my folder pictures. Worked like a champ the first time. I didn't do anything other than follow the instructions.

First :
what firmware are you on?
Because nobody actually answered. Still worth knowing even if logically, having a new 3DS got you a late enough firmware from factory.
However, a firmware of 9.3 or above is still necessary.
On some firmwares, Badge Arcade has to be downloaded to be able to run this, since HANS is not always capable of taking over the eShop properly. However you may find that it is unnecessary.
Verify of course, if Luma3DS is fully updated.

Second. If you have no Badge Arcade data to dump from your 3DS, GYTB will check for the content of the badges folder. (At the root of your SD card, Capitalization doesn't seems to matter. Mine is “SD/Badges”)
Verify it's existence and if you extracted all of badges pictures in a .png format, that you have manually downloaded, at the root of it. No compressed archives like .zip or .rar, and no sub-folders.

Third. I could suggest using Anemone3DS, as an replacement (It handles downloading, AND creating Badges from the downloaded packs from themes.plaza, so I suggest that you use either one OR the other. Not both to prevent confusion).
