Review Guild's Sonic Classic Collection Review

I think many of you are missing the spirit in which this review was made. You're bashing the review based on you're knowledge of the originals. Guild SAID that he was attempting to write the review based on the viewpoint of someone who has not really played these games before. and has no knowledge of emulators or things of that nature. It is written for the current generation of legit gamers, not us old hardcore veterans that played these games to death back in the day, or every version of these games that has ever been made for any other system.

I also think many of you are basing your complaints on the ROM and not the retail cart. All this talk of slowdowns and stuff just doesn't happen nearly as much on the retail cart, at least not in the severity you guys go on about. At best, you'll see the occasional hiccup or stutter and maybe a graphical glitch every great once in a while, that's all. The rest of the time the games are buzzing along just fine. Guild DID say that the review is not based the opinion of people who pirate games, but those who BUY games.

Read the 4 points Guild laid out before starting the actual review, then read the review again keeping those points in mind. When you look at it from the standpoint that Guild was trying to use, the review is spot-on.

THAT is why I say it's a good review.

Well my reasons about it not being good. Oh come on, removing the time attack mode from Sonic 3 was retarted, they could make an enhanced time attack using the normal player zone for ALL games. Extras? Huh why not a mirrored mode? WHY CAN'T WE PAUSE WITH START BUTTON TOO, having to look at the bottom screen to pause sometimes can kill you in the action moments. Oh come on, removing the Sound test from Sonic 2/3/3k? They could have at least added an external soundtest... That kind of thing.

With all this, you sound like you know a lot about the games and probably have better means to play them, ie in their original form or what not. As for the collection itself, it can do without these relative side features for having 4 games on there. I can live without the little modes, I just want to play the original games.

This game was the port that I was asking for, the screen format didn't bother me, the Pause button was a bit of an annoyance, but if you play it on a 3DS, I find it actually more covenant than the actual start button, but if you play on any other DS, then it's a bit more frustrating, and it's something you have to remember. For that ONLY reason, I'd give the game a 9.9/10. Still a game that you'll never get bored with.
