For several months, my Switch’s fan has been making a sort of grinding noise whenever I boot up the system or wake it up after it has been in sleep mode for a while. This only lasts for around a minute or two, then it goes quiet until I boot/wake the system up again. Even when the fan ramps up because of high load or something, it sounds normal after the initial bout. It doesn’t get hot and I haven’t noticed any further issues so far, but do you know what the cause might be or if it’s something I should be concerned about? It’s an overseas model, so sending it to Nintendo isn’t really an option.

Not my video, but it sounds similar to this:

Also, i’m not entirely sure, but the sound might slightly change when I tilt it while it’s doing this.

But also, consider buying some thermal pads and repasting the video card in your Switch to keep it cooler in general, which will also make your new fan come on less often and preserve the life of your fan and other Switch parts.

for an example of a cleanly done application of thermal pads and re-pasting of the video card.
