I'm expecting a crappy Graphics card to come with the computer I'm getting at Christmas so i might invest in a new one. Now i know there is two different types of slots for Graphics Cards: PCI and AGP. I don't know what type i'll get.

I have a question:

What is the best Graphics card for a small price? i have a £50 budget.

I was searching and these look good:

CLUB3D RADEON HD 2400PRO (AGP)
Sapphire RADEON X1550 (AGP)
XFX nVidia GF 6200A (AGP)
ATI Powercolor HD2400Pro (PCI)

All the good cheap cards are AGP. I hope my new Pc will have a AGP slot.

lol, AGP was made redundant ages ago
PCIe runs at 16X while AGP can only run at a maximum of 8x (something to do with data bandwith)

also, AGP are usually more expensive since PCI is the new standard and everyone has it (provided you have a moderately new computer)

i would suggest either the Radeon X1650XT or the geforce 7300GT
they are probably the best "bang for buck" cards in the lower region

No, PCI is worse than AGP. PCI Express is the new standard.

I meant pci express, just forgot to add the little e at the end
PCI runs at 1x

@ metroid phobia

heres a few good cards you should consider with you budget

Inno3D GeForce 7300GT £32.99
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Inno3D-GeForce-730...96364031&sr=8-1

Sapphire Radeon X1650 PRO £45.35
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Inno3D-GeForce-730...96364031&sr=8-1

ASUS EN7600GS £47.74
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-EN7600GS-SILE...96363995&sr=8-6

also, to prove my point about AGP being more expensive
here is the X1650 Pro in AGP

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Radeon-X1...96363959&sr=8-4

£95.99!!!!!

here is a few cards out of your budget but do deserve some considering

PNY GeForce 8600 GT £78.70
http://www.amazon.co.uk/PNY-GeForce-PCI-E-...96364385&sr=1-6

Sapphire RADEON X1950 GT (isnt it XT?) £75.58
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-RADEON-X1...96364462&sr=1-3

Inno3D GeForce 7600GT £55.89
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Inno3D-GeForce-760...6364385&sr=1-15

my personal favorite out of these lot would be the X1950 with the 7600GT coming a close second
if you are adamant about your budget then go for the 7600GS

thats about 100 US dollars? yeahh honestly. with the same budget. PCI-e would be better.. so hopefully youre new computer will have PCI-e. do you know what kind of computer youre getting?

you can get a decent PCI-e for 50 pounds. not great. but decent. like a x1650 pro. or 8500GT

Yeah that would be 100 dollars.

The pc i'm getting is this

I heard that nearly all pre-built computer systems would have crappy Graphics Card and other components so i want to invest in a new card and more RAM to play PC games. i really want to play Portal and and Team Fortress 2.

It was hard to find a good AGP card which is not expensive.

So far this is what i got for each slot type:

PCI: Visiontek Radeon X1300 or ASUS EN7600GS

PCI Express: Inno3D GeForce 7300GT

AGP: Diablotek Geforce2 MX 400 or XFX nVidia GF 6200A or Sapphire RADEON X1550

first of all, dont double post. the edit button is there for a reason

secondly, im 99% sure that PCI(not express) graphics cards are produced anymore and im 100% sure that both those cards are not PCI.

seriously dude, if your motherboard has an AGP port in it return it immidiately
its not worth it, even the slightest.
AGP is slower and more expensive and as such is redundant

I cant return a computer if it has AGP thats just stupid.

Guy:"So why are you returning this computer?"
Me: "oh well it uses AGP for the Graphics Card, so yeaaaaaaaaah, i'm a Jackass for asking to return this aren't i?"
Guy: "yeah"

actually. not too be rude. but most people talking to you, including me, are hardcore gamers. were just trying to tell you the honest truth about agp and pci-E. it honestly is that much of a deal, AGP vs. pci-E. and i would return it if it was agp (i would actually find out before even buying it though). youre spending so much for a product, you better get exactly what you want. but lets not argue about it. just let us know what it is when you get it, then well help you on out on what video card to get.

Thats why you tell him something else, duh.

When you turn into an actual gamer you know how to return things even when they work fine. lol.

Anyway this is a good card... GeForce 8400 GS (PCI-express)

Edit: $39.99

WARNING! not a gamers card!

yeaaaaah....anyways sounds like a good card.

in terms of specs its a fine card but if you look at how the cards in each series compare, the 8x00 series doesnt quite cut it.
the 7600gt is about half a 7900gt
whereas a 8600gts is only 1/4th a 8800gt

i hope they pull out the big guns for the 9x00 series other than blathering on about DX10 as an excuse for delivering underpowered cards.

the 8800gt is a real work of art though... *drool*

PCI_E has been good to me. I've been a fan of ATI for a while now and have used one in pretty much, yup, all of my builds. However, it looks like NVIDIA has some really nice cards out there now.
