Google introduces reverse image search

Normally, an image search involves inputting text with the output being images, however, a reverse image search allows the user to input an image with the output being the website(s) that have that (or a similar) image, the uses range from finding a higher quality image, finding the original source or simply finding out exactly what that image is.

It is nothing new, for example Tineye, however, Google already has a well developed image cache which allows it to far exceed the likes of Tineye.

Well that pretty much means TinEye is dead I guess. Google Images has a much larger library of images like you said so it should probably do a better job.

Yup, thought so too when this news first came up.
Still an amazing feat of Google of pulling this off (just like TinEye), must take some really advanced programming to get this working.

Lol yeah, I believe the panda is a logo of theirs. I added the funky rainbow colors and another user added the glasses in a monkat thread

I think we can trust the tempers for the guessing games. It's not like an extra point is worth anything and it's not worth the trouble.

Tineye works a lot better for me, it can identify images that have been modified or resized.

I hope this works. TinEye did nothing but shit for me. I never got a good answer from TinEye.

Wow, after a few searches, I'm liking this a lot better. It even detects images without/with extra text compared to the image I give it. Sweet!
