Because, not only is emulation not that far removed from what flashcards do, but, as I'm sure you're aware, some flashcards use emulation to play the ROMs rather than the traditional method. Either way, your message hasn't really helped with my question.

Is this available for any firmware? I'm currently on '10.3.-28E' and I was under the impression (perhaps false) that it isn't possible to downgrade yet until Memchunkhax2 is released?

this IS memchunkhax2; implementaton isn't 100% but it certainly works enough for this!

dont use a flashcart, just use custom firmware. It's free after all. Just wait for them to finish the exploit and release it.

cfw=gateway>sky

Gateway is better than cfw, you can load hacked .3ds files, proper signature patching and region free everywhere plus you can load cfw. The downside is that it cost money but in general terms is the best flashcart with the best support

- Gateway to run emunand and any cia (some need cryptofix and you are limmited to 9.5 emunand on your N3DS)
- Sky3DS+ Put Cubic Ninja or OoT on it and use it to boot into HBL if a CIA needs an update, place the 3ds of that game on your sky and update the game the normal way (no update cia needed)

Nope. I have 2 3DSs, I have no need for an emulator on my PC...

Hi DjoeN, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the last I used flashcards was during the DS era - I'm afraid I am a complete newbie when it comes to what emunand, cia, NAND and Crpytofix are. I'm really interested in doing this, but I'm not sure where to start to begin learning what these things are! Apologies for sounding like the most troglodytic n00b. XD

Firmware 10.3 and if you wanna stay on that -> Only solution is a Sky3DS(+)
If you want to take the risk of downgrading to 9.2, you should go for a Gateway

it doesnt work yet, your only option NOW is sky3ds, anyway they are expecting to add 10.3 support, they have proved that they can update their card to work in any firmware. With sky3ds you never know...

You can wait, Gateway will soon release a 10.3 solution (either by downgrading, or another way)
Sky3DS can't have Emunand, Gateway can, Emunand is installing games to SD (cia file format)
Sky3DS needs private headers with games that use online play, you need to dump them yourself or find a way to do so! else you risk a ban from nintendo

I bought my gateway before anything else was released, single game on single microsd card, the card is much better than what i bought at that time plus they have been updating it till now. During all this time there have been competitors that claimed how better than gateway they were. Do you have any news about them?? they are done. The only competitor that its still alive is sky3ds, they dont run homebrew or custom code and they have needed 3 flashcart model to get where we are now. Its not fanboyism, i can perfectly do it with a CFW on both my o3ds and n3ds but gateway is a better option if money is not a concern. I find really handy to play my ripped games on a 3ds online with gateway file without having to convert to CIA files or dealing with custom headers on sky3ds
