I am really oblivious to developer intent and stuff at times so I get confused/lost a lot in "open" games and have to look a guide up to progress further for most of them. A few exceptions are Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Red Dead 1, Pokemon Arceus, Hollow Knight but these are hard to come by.

This is mostly me not paying enough attention or ADHD at work ig but I think looking up guides ruins a lot of the fun for me so I like to avoid it when I can.

this question is incredibly hard to answer without examples of games you get lost in. mind providing examples?

Persona 5.... some puzzles are too obtuse and the map is useless so I get lost for hours trying to find a door....
Silent Hill 2..... I know it is meant to be confusing and mysterious but as a forgetful person I can never finish this game and using a guide would ruin the experience.
God of War.... never figured out an early game puzzle because I'm dumb like that (sometimes?).
