I've noticed that every time my card's filesystem karks it, it's straight after I delete something from the card (leaving non-contiguous space) and then write something new to the card (probably resulting in a fragmented file).

Can anyone else having problems confirm if that's what happened to them?

I've found that dumping the whole card to my hard-drive, making changes, and writing it all back again never produces an error. But it is a long-winded pain in the rump.

(Absolutely fantastic card other than that, I'm hoping that switching to FAT32 will stop the errors I'm getting.

Uhh.... I have never formatted the card. There was never any need for it so to say.

How do I even know what file system I have on the card? :S

Isn't it also that the G6's system files are designed to work with one particular file system?

Jammy devil.

How do I even know what file system I have on the card? :S
Right-click on the drive in My Computer, select properties, it'll say 'File System: ...' near the top.

Could be - the in-built formatter creates FAT(16) but I've had constant problems with it. I'm now trying FAT32 to see if it's more reliable, and since there's a few threads on here about rw-errors I thought I'd try something vaguely productive.

ps. If you've never formatted it, i'd like to know what the factory default filesystem is.

Importance notes to prevent data loss:
======================================
1. Please insert "G6DS" card into "G6 USB2.0 adapter" before connecting "G6 USB2.0 Adapter" to the PC.

2. Please remove the "G6DS" card together with the "G6 USB2.0 adapter" from the PC.

3. Do not disconnect "G6DS" from the socket of the adapter or "G6 USB2.0 Adapter" from the PC while the LED of the USB2.0 adapter lights up.

Suggestion: The most safest way to disconnect "Removable Device" from the PC:
I. Left click "Safely remove USB mass storage device drive" icon at the bottom-left corner of the PC desktop.
II. Select the option (turn blue), left click it to confirm the operation
III. Pull "G6 USB2.0 Adapter" out from the USB port of PC.
IV. Pull "G6DS" out from "G6 USB2.0 Adapter.

Maintenance:
============
If only a black is displayed on the screen of your console after inserting G6DS into. Please try to copy the "right" system file into G6DS or it's possible that the format of the G6DS is damaged. It is necessary to repair by our maintenance tools.

Steps:
======
1. Insert G6DS into the NDS.
2. Press the "start" button while booting up the NDS. (Run the format utility)
3. Press the "select" button again to confirm doing the format process.
4. If the text of "Format... OK" appears, it means the process is success.
5. Connect G6DS to the PC, copy the "system" files into the G6DS.
6. All done. Insert G6DS into the console and test it.

Thanks, Sherlock.
You might be surprised to hear it, since I'm clearly the kind of chap who listed two compatible filesystems; three operating systems; and acknowledged the existence of further operating systems, but I have actually read the readme...
