Hacking ftpii transfer speed?

I've just installed ftpii because my Card Reader doesn't work with SDHC cards, so i have to use ftpii to get my stuff onto my wii-sd(hc).
What's the max. transfer speed?
I've copied my stuff with only 25.9kb/s is it possible to increase the speed or is this the maximum? (24 MB file took about 10 min...)

no... at least for me is the same, about 8 minutes for 27Mb (cover images)

Well.. I have to come around with this... stupid old card reader...

yep I think too that it can depend by card speed, anyway just for curiosity I use an "old" 2gb verbatim simple sd card... maybe with an SDHC card it could go faster... but sincerely it's not a big issue, at least for me, it doesn't change too much from 5 to 10 minutes
