FTP Woes

I've been trying to find a way to transfer thousands of files within thousands of folders. filezilla cuts off a large chunk of them, smartftp only sees a very small amount, and windows explorer loses connection at calculating time. I have no idea how to do this then. any suggestions? I did try to transfer over about a thousand folders within filezilla, and it still cut things off. this is like 9 files within a thousand folders too.

Transferring from where, and to? And what’s the approx size of all these files (e.g. MB, GB, TB)?

FTP does have limitations, but a little more context would be helpful.

Have you considered zipping the files prior to FTP'ing them? Transferring one file in chunks is easier than transferring a zillion files in a billion folders. There's a reason why Dropbox zips multiple files before downloads - it's super-easy to chunk.

1) Is the connection actually stable?
2) Is there an alternative e.g. SMB?

You could always scp the folders. It's a bit better at handling transfers like this.
