So I'm hoping there's a solution to this issue i'm having cause if there isn't then I just wasted money on the internal SSD I bought. After installing my m.2 ssd it all seems to be working. I moved some games to the ssd and they played just fine. Every now and then when I run the jailbreak exploits it crashes the PS5 and I have to restart it and try it again which isn't a surprise since this occured on the ps4 as well but now more often than not when the ps5 crash due to the exploit upon restarting the ps5 I get the error message can't repair m.2 ssd and it forces me to format the ssd or remove it in order for the p5 to load. I constantly have to do this after almost each crash. It takes a long time to move multiple games to the ssd. If I have to keep formatting it I can't really put games on the ssd cause it's just going to get erase after another crash. anyone have any work arounds that doesn't require me to have to format the ssd?

Thats a Security measurement when the a53 Checks if its unsigned code it will force wipe your ssd and sometimes Even your whole fw Thats because the a53 isnt pwnd and you should Play your Games only from external hdd/ssd

Get urself an external m.2 adapter and use your new ssd with that

so wait does that mean everyone who's jailbreaking their ps5 are not installing game dumps on the internal m.2 ssd? or is it just my firmware? I'm on 5.02.

Everyone is using external at least till the a53 Chip is pwnd

So would it be safe to say that this only concerns PS5 game dumps? I'd heard about better stability using external drives but I assumed that included the m.2 slot and didn't realise this drive wipe thing was part of the reason. Would PS4 fpkg work just fine from the m.2 then, or does the a53 check for those too? Still using my retail ps5 atm so never really tried anything myself (sad I can't dump my own ps5 games since they are on a higher fw).

me too,ps5 dump games only works perfect on m2 usb,on integrall
no matter what I do with the files or even through the console I delete or transfer games, sometimes an error appears which results in me having to format the internal m2 drive

For me I never even ran PS5 dumps and after I was forced to do a database refresh due to the home screen getting messed up it couldn't refresh the database on the internal m.2 so I had to remove it, format it on my Mac as the PS5 couldn't format it for some reason.

Strangely enough I've had more kernel panics that I can count, I have 3 PS5 game dumps on my internal m.2 SSD and it never asks me to format it, neither does it erase my files. All it does is a simple m.2 check that takes 1-2 seconds. And usually I have to go to itemzflow and re-enable the dumps, but the files never go anywhere.

Maybe I'm lucky in this KP nightmare 🤣

The reason nothing happens to your m.2 is that the PS5 dumps are not installed as PKGs and therefore not added to the app.db so no database refreshing needs to be done. The KPs are likely the result of trying to run the dumps from the internal m.2 which is known to cause a lot of issues.

Do you have any other games on the m.2?

Yes I have a bunch of legit PS5 games installed on the m.2. Why?

Something I find odd is that even after I have factory reset my PS5 (even with firmware reinstalled) all my legit and non legit PS5 games continue to stay installed in the m.2, as if nothing happened. Is this normal behavior? 🤔

As far as I know any non factory installed storage devices (USB External and m.2 internal) aren't touched when resetting the console as I don't believe there is anything system specific on them as you can use them in other PS systems. I don't know if the m.2 can be used in another PS5 but I don't see why not.

These crashes might be related to 5.02. Not sure how much testing was actually done on it. I had the same issues on 7.00 with lots of kernel panics. After updating to 7.61, it’s been way more stable, kind of like how 5.05 is on PS4. Some firmwares just seem more stable than others, probably because devs focused most of their testing on specific versions. I decided to update mainly because the risk on PS5 is higher. On PS4, you could just swap the hard drive if something failed. On PS5, everything runs off soldered NAND chips, and half of them are encrypted and tied to the board. If one goes bad from crashes or power cuts, there’s no easy fix. Going with the more stable firmware just felt like the safer move.

So if one installs the game files in "folders and files" format (decrypted?) to the internal M.2 SSD there shouldn't be any "corruption" of sorts i.e. you won't be forced to format the internal M.2 SSD? I've just recently acquired a PS5 so I'm still new to all this.

Yes, a basic rule of thumb would be useful.
Something like:
1) Retail ps5 games on Internal.
2) PS4 fpkgs on m.2
3) Ps5 dumps on external storage.

At least until ps5 fpkgs are possible.

By dumps you mean those versions of the games that are decrypted and in folders and files structure?
Yes. I haven't played with any ps5 dumped games yet but you typically launch them using Itemzflow.

Also forgot about this possible advanced trick where some PS5 dumped games worked better when same game is installed on both the internal and external usb devices. Need this confirmed though as not sure of the exact configuration...
