to be fair, the phoenix write and mario deluxe etc, had been repacked, but they had left the data partition un-edited, not understanding why they couldn't just do the same in this case, other than wanting the ncch/ncsd signature checks patched out.....would be better for end users, maybe then people could start on translation mods etc.....also it would mean homebrew(unsigned content) would be here finally....assuming i'm understanding it all correctly

Technically all eShop ROMs are patched to a certain degree, because they have to at some point be rebuilt as ROM. eShop games you buy don't sit in ROM format on your 3DS.

eShop ROMs are NCCH, and BigBlueBox prepended an NCSD header for converting those NCCH to NCSD CCI format. Nothing wrong with that as the clean data can still be extracted from that.

HOWEVER for these 2 new ones (Bird Mania 3D and Liberation Maiden) they edited the eShop NCCH ROM, which means they are no longer clean... So there is no way to extract the clean version from those.

For this reason these 2 releases should be nuked and proper'ed!

You think BBB patched the NCCH for no reason? It would be silly to patch the NCCH if the were already valid.

It would be silly to release ONLY the patched version. That's why a clean version must also be rlsed

wouldn't a clean version be a .CIA file?

i thought that was the actual Downloaded Format and that these .3DS files coming out are techincally completely custom anyway

Yes, the .3ds files come from the .cia files, which are technically the clean copies.
