Hacking Firmware update from a game?

Does the Wii asks you if a game is trying to update your firmware, or do you have a prompt which you can decline?
Just askins I wouldn't like to brick my Wii installing a US version on my wii thanks.

Your Wii will ask you for updatng - you cannot cancel but you can just switch off your Wii because the update starts once you select "I accept".. if you have Wii Menu 3.2 you might take a look at StarFall which blocks game updates

The games ask you before you update so at the prompt you can safely shut down your Wii before anything bad happens.

Ah ok thanks guys but then I can't play the game ? Is there any way besides Starfall? Or do I have to update to be able to play ?
