Favorite Title in the series?

So what are your favorite titles in the final fantasy franchise? For me it would VI through X. This could include spin off titles as well.

I'd say FF V because it exhudes charm, I love that it keeps a sense of humor while still packing truly emotional moments. This is by far the most endearing FF cast to me. And the music, well... I can play the game just because of the music.

X is my favorite by a mile, but I've played all the mainline games and sequels/prequels, except for XVI. IV was my first and VI was next, so I definitely have nostalgia for them as well.

You are right, I may be a bit harsh on it.
I completed the remastered version on DS, maybe I wasn't in the mood, and like many RPG, it is a product of its time so it aged.

On the other side, I couldn't push myself to finish FFXII...
I did it on X and FF7Remake, but it didn't felt right, I had to force me to play it, it felt like a chore.

On the other hand, I can take FFT and make a new run with no second thought, no magic run, no calculator run etc...

What do you think about this one ?

I've been obsessed with XIV lately if that counts. As far as the non-online games go, I really like XII, IX, VI, Tactics Advance 1& 2, VI, V, and II in no particular order. If I was forced at gunpoint to choose one as my absolute favorite, then I guess I would just have to die lol

I've also been obsessed with XIV (put in 200 hours in 2 weeks T_T) but in terms of the single player games i'd have to go with Crisis Core, Type-0, FF6, and FFXV

I remember when I was childhood and play Final Fantasy Mystic Quest on Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and it's really hard to beat. My parents bought this game for me long time ago for Christmas. Few years later when I turned to teen and play again then finally beat this game. Because I find out I need to level up to build HP, Attack, Defense, Magic, etc to get bigger to stay more stronger to keep going more far out. I learn this way. This is my old favorite game on SNES.

Final Fantasy 2 on SNES, my parents rent game from Blockbuster long time ago, I was not able to finish it and stuck on mountain chapter/stage/mission and I lost it not remember where to go. I need to play this again on my computer with SNES emulator.

I never try Final Fantasy 3 on SNES, I never own game. I have to play Final Fantasy 2 game first on emulator then will play this game on emulator from computer.

I had Final Fantasy 15 on my PS4 and still not finish game. It's would take a long time to going.

You are right, I may be a bit harsh on it.

I haven't played FF III DS but the DS/3D remake seems very bland and forgettable to me, maybe try the Pixel Remaster ? It's great and really does justice to the charm of the 2D original.

On the other side, I couldn't push myself to finish FFXII...

I made several attempts to finish FF XII over the years, it starts strong but some reason my interest always ended up waning. I finally finished it on Switch but had to use cheats to streamline the playthrough, and there's definitely a couple of annoying side quests towards the end.

VI is the one final fantasy game I have the most knowledge about, and I've been playing that again recently so I guess VI?
I also like IX and X despite never finishing either of them

BEST:
Final Fantasy Tactics is the best one, plus with mods you can put it way more replayability than it already had.
Final Fantasy 12 is very good as well, people criticize it for the story which is really convulted but the gameplay is the best of them all IMO.
Final Fantasy 7 for the cast of characters, story and everything else.
Final Fantasy 4 is amazing as well, love everything about that game.

WORST:
Final Fantasy 6, i cant understand the love for this game, sure its good, but thats it. Never cared to finish it.
Final Fantasy 11, online game... enough said.
Final Fantasy 13, the worst of them all.
Final Fantasy X-2, never cared for female-only characters and the story is crap.
Final Fantasy 14, terrible cast of characters, story, etc.

Fully understand I may be subjecting myself to a spit of public shaming with this one, but FF12 is actually my number one favourite of them all.

I completely accept that the story is fairly run of the mill, I share this opinion, but it still didn't turn me off from it. I thought it was fun at times. I like the characters a lot and wish we could get to know more about them in the course of the game!
I've got to get around to playing Revenant Wings sometime.

The game itself is, in my opinion, so great though, mechanically speaking. The gambit system is extremely fun to play with, and I like the way they implemented the skill tree and jobs. Combat encounters are quite thrilling, and feature some really cool monster designs.
But the music is what really captured me, it's stunning. Hitoshi Sakimoto quickly became one of my favourite composers, and it made me go back and play Vagrant Story later on.

In games, music and sound effects are a big pull for me, and is one of the things I pay the most attention to while playing.
FF9 was the first game in the series I played, and along with Ridge Racer and WipEout, it was a massive influence on my interest in music in general, as well as audio design for games.
Beautiful game too, one of the most touching games I've played and sits nicely at the top among my most beloved entries.

FF11 is also very special to me, first MMO I ever played and still enjoy to this day. Chock full of fantastic stories that are well written, funny, and unlike FF14, focuses more on the expansion's characters and settings rather than putting the player in the spotlight all the time. No shade to fans of FF14, I used to play it myself, just think 11 did it better.

I've yet to play FF7 and 10! I played quite a bit of 7 but never actually finished, so I'll need to get around to that sometime. I'm also planning on playing 10 and 10-2.
They'll have to wait however, because right now I'm in the middle of playing through Kingdom Hearts for the first time, and I'm absolutely loving it.

Honourable mentions to some of my other favourites in no particular order: FF4, FF5, FF6, and FF8.

Couldn't agree more. Best part, is that when you talk about 11 on 14, ppl get mad. Meanwhile any ff11 player knows that 14 is full of ff11 stuff, just made worst whit a better graphic. Also, the elite bandwagon that talk about difficulty here and there, ff11 was stupid easy, as if enjoyment and fun is not a part of a game experience. If it's not hard enough, it's not worth play. I'm pretty tired of this bullshit, reason i just quitted raiding on 14, and just do what i like.
For the rest, i enjoyed every final fantasy, apart the ffx-2 3 or whatever, and ff13-2 couldnt stand after a bit, too boring.
still need to finish rebirth and ff16.
But more or less, i enjoyed every FF, just maybe 2 and 5 they aged really bad, despite 2 having a nice power up system.

Funny you quote this now, I still play 11 but only two months after making that post I quit FF14, I just had enough with the job changes. I mained Paladin ever since it was added to FF14 back in 1.2x, and subsequently my main DD was Black Mage and healer was Astrologian, but I think the Black Mage changes and Solution Nine completely ruining the game's art direction pissed me off the most.

Also, did 5 really age poorly? It's my favourite of the SNES games
I'm sure there's good reasons for this, I'm probably blind to it behind my adoration for the characters and its lighthearted story.
