(It's bringing a Gen 1 game into the Gen 2 era, so I thought it felt appropriate as a mention)

Metroid2 remake?
This is the only one I didn't play yet.
it would be great if it'll be made for consoles too.

There's also Metroid Redesign which is a good hack for Snes.

Fallout:
FOnline: 2238
The events of FOnline takes place in the year 2238 and... it's an MMO. Yup, you heard me right - classic Fallout in an MMO format supporting both Real-Time and Turn-Based combat. All the weapons you know and love are there and the world map has been expanded by fan-made, beautiful locations whilst the ones we know from the games were altered to show how the flow of time has changed the wastes. There isn't a whole lot to say about this game apart from... "Wasteland is Harsh". The Role-Playing element is very strong - the game is difficult and it isn't afraid to kick you in the nuts, the players really act as if the world had ended and will not be afraid to steal from you or backstab you if you do not keep your guard up - there are no friends in the wastes, if you think they are your friends, it's like you're already dead. FOnline introduces an interesting crafting and mining mechanic which improves role-playing even furtier -yo have to make your own weapons, ammunition and gear from junk and resources if you can't afford to pay the hefty store prices - mine iron and other minerals, chop wood, collect junk to survive. Those who stick to the rules are rewarded with fantastic loot and great items, including the well-known vehicles from the series! Those who don't... well... Those just die. It's also worth noting that if you die, you lose all your equipment because y'know what? "Wasteland is Harsh" - don't carry your entire fortune with you next time, dummy - leave it in your private tent, cave or base. Great game, comes highly recommended.

Damn you, for getting me excited for nothing.
