I just got my EX4i today, and I was wondering does it usually ship blank? When I put it into my dsi I get "There is nothing inserted in the Game Card slot" or is it because i need the firmware inside my micro sd card and in my ds?

Most flashcarts come with nothing on it, that is because they were made in places like France. Where it legal to make and sell if it wasn't preprogrammed with anything.
That is why they had a EU SuperCard DS One kit where it came with nothing on it and the user had to buy a seperate flasher unit just to flash the unit for use.
