I'm having a great time, how about all y'all /s

So, super long story short- back in January I had my new R4 card set up and it was running the DS ROMs and Lameboy EMulator and GB/GBC ROMs just fine with no problems- however the GBARunner2 would boot ROMs but not recognize the save files it was creating (not bringing in other save files, but save files that the emulator had made itself). I posted on here, got a lot of help, and after a lot of tinkering I got it working. At that point, I hadn't been able to play GBA in a long time so I got hyper-focused on that and didn't really load up any of the DS ROMs.

Well, I finally was like yeah I wanna play XYZ and tried to load a DS ROM, only to receive an errcode=-1 and I posted about it this past weekend. When I googled it started it was all timebomb related but all the info and threads came from 2010/2011 and the fixes were all just "update your kernel". So I posted again looking for help and wasn't really getting anywhere and only got a couple of replies so I began troubleshooting every step to see where exactly the DS ROMs work/when they stop working. I formatted the card and reinstalled the kernel and the RetroGameFan MultiCart fresh and only put DS ROMs in it (no emulators and no GB/GBC/GBA ROMs). Surprise surprise, all the DS ROMs booted with no issue.

I added the emulators without the ROMs for them and tried to boot them to see if perhaps it's a specific GB/GBC/GBA ROM that was fucking shit up when I added it in. The emulators didn't boot, but the DS ROMs continued to boot and load save files. I didn't know if perhaps the emulators were having an issue loading because there were no ROMs present for them to boot, but know that shouldn't be a problem hypothetically (it would just show empty folders). Every time I put the SD Card back into the computer to tinker, both the Lameboy and GBARunner2 Emulators are totally and completely gone from the SD Card, along with any and all GB/GBC/GBA ROMs I copied on to try and test the emulators with.

So now I am back to square one of where I was back in January, but now I can't get either of the emulators or ROMs to boot or even stay on the card itself. Currently banging my head into a wall trying to just play some old games and now I can't access any of the GBA ROMs I've been playing on since January.

Help?

Have you tested that your SD card isn't dying? (http://dsi.cfw.guide/sd-card-setup.html)

That's really weird and it sounds like probably either a dying SD card or maybe a faulty flashcard... If the SD card is fine might just want to try get another flashcard.

Bing bing bing we have a winner- you are correct. I downloaded h2testw and let it run for a while and it's not done and it's already giving me a warning that it is defective, it's a 32GB card and it's showing over 6GBs defective and only 3GBs OK.

Luckily I did just buy a new 2 pack of micro sd cards a week ago so I have a new one to test now and see if that works. I'll update once I test it and see if everything runs. Thanks so much, @Pk11 !

Formatted the card and started with a fresh kernel and the RetroGameFan Multi Cart and then after testing the DS added the emulators and the ROMs and it works! Thanks so much again this community is amazing for people like me who only understand the bare minimum of what I'm doing, I just want to play old games :D Again, thanks so much @Pk11 you were an amazing help!

Nice! :yay:

Shoulda thought to suggest that earlier as it did kinda sound like a faulty SD lol, at least it's working now though.
