So, I sold my Wii on Ebay. (v3.4 with HBC) The customer wanted me to remove any kinds of modifications or hacks so I simply formatted the system thinking it would restore everything (or at least delete the HBC). I took out the SD-Card and tried turning it on. I saw the language selection screen so I thought everything was fine. I turned off the system and sent it to the customer. Now, 4 days later the they tell me there is an error "The System Files Are Corrupted." which I believe is a brick. So we tried a few things and found out the following:

- simply turning the Wii on (with/without SD-Card) triggers the error
- holding POWER and RESET opens the Priiloader. Choosing "System Menu" opens the language selection and the date selection screen, but confirming those (or trying to load the actual system) triggers the error again
- trying to access the Homebrew Channel leads to "Error autobooting HBC, maybe title not installed?"
- however, loading channels like the Mii Maker directly works

I really need help since the customer is starting to get angry and I actually was happy to finally have sold my old Wii. English is not my primary language so I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Thank you!

Edit: Also, I noticed that I wrote 'formating' instead of 'formatting' but I can't figure out a way to change the title. So help from a moderator would be great too.

Hello, did you add the SD card that you have inserted in there?
Because it is needed to boot. If you just reformat the Wii it will not be back to the original. That is not how the Homebrew deletion works.

So they have the same files on the SD card as you had? (in the exact same folders etc.)
Then it is probably a brick of some kind yeah... however, it is fixable :).

I only think that you will need to get it back to fix it. Hope it did not cost to much?

50 bucks, it's money I guess. Yes, I sent them all the files from my SD-Card and nothing changed.

I'm pretty sure formatting the system does indeed remove the HBC, but not the custom IOS installed.

Boot into priiloader, and launch MMM and install the 4.3 system menu of your region, and should will fix it.

You're not supposed to factory reset with Priiloader iirc, as it works by renaming the official Wii Menu and the "extra" files are not kept; the HBC was of course removed as all normal installable channels

You should be able to simply reinstall the Wii Menu via a wad manager (keeping in mind the requirement for a matched IOS = don't try to downgrade or upgrade if you don't know what you're doing, stick with 3.4E)

Thank you so much guys. They will send me my system back for a few days to 'repair' it. I will let you know if everything worked out!

I did exactly the same, formatting my 4.3 Wii with the HBC, bootmii, priiloader and cios’es/patched ios’es installed, and I didn’t get ANY sort of problem or brick.

So guys, I need your help. The system arrived. Whenever I try to launch a homebrew app to install wads my Wii motes turn off. (They used to work with homebrew before!)

Oh, they were unpaired by the factory reset; I am not sure if you can pair them on the error screen (it's the Wii Menu job's to do that, normally) or in Priiloader, but borrowing some GC controller would be the easy workaround...

The problem is, I have the Familiy Edition, which means there are no GC slots whatsoever. They do work in Priiloader, USB Loader, WiiFlow, Data-Manager but not with f.e. MMM. How come?

All I need is a homebrew that installs a specific wad without the need to press any button.

SO, YAWMM worked like a charm and I was able to install a new System Menu. However there is still the corrupted message when choosing a language.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

UPDATE:

I want to thank you all so much. Installing a new System Menu didn't work so I turned it on once again, clicked through the setup of my Wii really fast before it could courrupt again. Then I turned it off and back on and performed a quick System Update with Wii Sports Resort. (I was praying it wouldn't corrupt while perfoming the actual update) It worked! :)
