EA's latest would-be blunder (game prices)

I don't get the whole 'teens are the only play CoD players.' When I was working at GAME we had a shitload of twenty and thirtysomethings waiting at 8am on launch.

Well most of the people who play Call of Duty play it because it's the popular thing to do. 20 to 30 year olds don't care about how it's popular; they just like the game. I believe. It's very stereotypical; I lump Call of Duty players as being the younger generation of gamers. But it does make sense, considering Burnsey plays Call of Duty and he's in his 20s. Those kinds of people are exceptions to this stereotype...

See, I didn't know that. That's why stereotyping is bad. But it might be because I hate Call of Duty and I'm not a teenager; I couldn't imagine anyone older than me liking it... that's crazy...

Console games come to about $72 already here.

When I was in Finland they were even higher >-> Can't even remember the exact amounts but...59.99 euros? thats like $82 CAD. Might've been higher but I think that was it.

Anyway, exactly why I pirate and only buy games worth paying for that I know I like, or waiting for big price drops.

That is indeed correct and 59.99€ is the usual price for a game in average gaming related stores. Still, we have quite a large part of the retailing chain selling games even at 69.95€. Like NetAnttila, which is the internet store of an otherwise great store selling electronics and the likes.

The prices between foreign markets can differ wildly, so EA changing the price abroad (especially in markets like India, where the prices on games are disproportionately low) doesn't necessarily mean they're changing in the US.

Plus, Sony has already confirmed that PS4 games will remain at $60 price point. I mean, EA could try to hike the prices all on their own and make their games significantly more expensive than the competition, but I doubt it. Talk all you want about EA being greedy, but they're not suicidal.

Also, a) "would-be blunder" is the wrong term here, and b) a Youtube video of price speculation isn't news.

Sports games ( Which is what the majority of EA games are ) are always the most expensive games when they come out here in the UK , and sit at that price for months so it's no surprise.

This will not effect other publishers in my opinion as they can't sell it at that price without hurting sales. Also 99% of games are only the top RRP for around a week before they start dropping in price.
