I always wondered the same.
Even worse than this are Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros 2,
both have demos, and SM3DL demo was made around a year and half,
but Nintendo refuses to put these Demos on e-shop

because when the site went down coding errors occurred and smiley codes changed for a while

Ohhhh, you mean you put the D for smiley face so when it was written "3D" it changed into a sad D: face.
