Hacking DS screen

i have the 1st DS its about a year old and the touch screen is dodgy now

as when you touch some parts of the screen it dont seem to work so i thought it needed calabrating but when i go to that screen and touch the wee square im stuck doing it forever

but on my mates i only need touch it 3 times and its done so i know theres sommit up, now is there a way to get it working again??? or is it now for the bin???

either send it in for repair or just buy a new touch screen they are only about $40.
