Hi Guys,

When fully charged - how long does your DS last you?

I dont know if i have just been playing more recently or my battery is getting weaker, but i seem to be charging it alot more frequntly now.

Can the DS battery die eventually, and is it easy to replace?

nintendo ds batterys are easy to replace. All you have to do is unscrew the battery section of the ds and take the old battery out and shove in the new one.

Its best to get an official nintendo battery. There have been reports of bad battery life from 3rd party batteries

My battery is dying, it now lasts about 5hrs off a 4hr charge.
But I have had my DS for 2.5 years.
I need to replace it but I can't find an original Nintendo DS battery.

I've only had mine for about 9 months, and i dont think it lasts much longer than 5 hours when fully charged.... i guess that aint good!

a) yes the battery can and actually does die, like every other battery too. Estimated lifetime of a li-ion battery is approx. 2 years.

b) super easy to replace but somewhat hard to get an original

My battery lasts 3-5 hours, SnemulDS seems to drain it way faster than anything else. I can't believe how short this battery lasts, I don't have the money to buy a new one. Although, I don't play my DS in public, I don't even like playing it around my brother, it's too sacred.

Yea my battery life is too dieing quickly, I get like 5 hours at most. I have had my DS for almost two years now.

Also if I do decide to change my battery, would the DS lite fit into the DS Phat?

My DS Lite lasts around 8 hours with brightness at level 2 and medium sound.

I can't stand brightness settings any lower than max. Once you go that high you can't turn back (until battery is almost flat

DS lite battery life per brightness level:
Lowest Brightness: 15-19 hours
Second Brightness: 10-15 hours
Third Brightness: 7-11 hours
Maximum Brightness: 5-8 hours

The lowest number in each category is DS games, highest number is GBA.

DS lite takes 3 hours to charge from a dead battery.

I generally use the 15-19 hour setting (brightness level 1) on my DSlite. I find it sufficient 99% of the time.

The old style DS (DS1) has a battery life of 6-10 hours with the backlight on and takes 4 hours to charge from a dead battery. I have no clue how long the battery of the DS1 lasts with the light off, since it's nearly impossible to play that way.

The numbers listed assume that the battery is working at full capacity and is not old or worn out. After around 500 charges, the battery life can degrade to about 75% of its original capacity. Volume level will also affect the numbers listed.....the higher you set your volume the less battery life you'll get. At medium volume, knock about a half hour off the theoretical maxes.

Wifi eats another 30-40% of the battery life.

Yeah, I know. Max brightness looks really nice. But since I like to play in a low light environment, it doesn't matter

The extra brightness of the screen is why I got a DSlite, even in low light i think that max brightness still looks better, the colours are just allot more vibrant and greatly increases my enjoyment of the games.

I was a max brightness junkie myself, but I recently took it down a level and have not really been disappointed. Something about being able to play for half the day without being plugged into the wall is refreshing.
