Dragon Quest VIII Save Editor help

Hi,

I'm wanting to add the DQVIII DLC items that were available to download awhile ago, and found a save editor help you put those items in your current game file. Here is the editor
However, I'm afraid that I may screw something up in my game, and am also unsure about how to use the save editor.

I have a New 3DS LL on Luma CFW, and am playing the DQ8 3ED Orchestrated CIA.

If anyone knows how to use save editors, and how to avoid ruining my game file, I would appreciate your help. Thanks!

Well... first you would make a backup of your savefile via JKSM or Checkpoint, then move said files to your PC where you'll open them using the save editor

Yes. I meant to say that after I put a save file on the PC, if the DLC is all I want to add or change, how would I limit the changes in the save editor to just adding DLC? Also, is it possible to make a copy of my save on my 3DS before moving it to my PC? Or does it copy anyway when I drag it off my SD card? Just want to make sure I have it on my 3DS either way before editing in case things go wrong.
